Description
Felty syndrome is a rare, potentially serious disorder which is characterized by the presence of three symptoms : rheumatoid arthritis, splenomegaly (enlarged spleen) and neutropenia (a decreased white cell count) which can lead to repeated infections. It also associated with seropositive (rheumatoid factor (RF) – positive rheumatoid arthritis.

Prevalence
US Cases: 32,000 [Calgüneri 2006]. FS affects about 1-3% of all people diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which occurs in about 1% of the general population.
Typical Age of onset
FS is most common during the fifth through seventh decades of life and is usually associated with having 10 years of RA preceding it. It is 3 times more common in women than men.
Symptoms
Painful, stiff and swollen joints most commonly in the joints of the hands, feet, and arms.
